British Atrocity - 1
A collage by Shrikant Apte
British were most brutal and inhuman in suppressing the uprising of Indians in 1857. In order to create terror, some Indian sepoys were tied in front of cannons and blown to pieces. There were no trials and no concept of fair treatment to prisoners of war. Number of persons executed in this ghastly manner is not known, but it is said to run into thousands. This cruel treatment of prisoners of war is unprecedented in recent history of mankind.
British continued with this method of public executions for many decades after 1857.
